The population of Kantemyrivka village (Chytivskyi district, Poltavska region) suffered from Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933 in Ukraine. 26 persons killed by starvation are identified.
According to the testimony of Chornukha Olryna Prokopivna (1912 – 2002), the graves of the victims of the 1932-1933 famine are located in the place, covered by blackthorn, near the cemetery to the side of the local House of Culture.
The respondent notes: “Everything that was in the house was changed for food. People were eating the birch leaves, they dried and ground them, and baked pancakes. When people died, the pits were dug, and people were buried without coffins, just covered by ground…”
