The population of Talalaivka village, Nizhyn district, Chernihiv region, suffered from the Holodomor genocide of 1932-1933. A local resident, a witness to the Holodomor, Kateryna Yevmenivna Bets, recalled, “Those who did not have relatives were to be buried… They were buried in cemeteries, and they threw everyone in the pits. I know it…”. Another local resident, a witness to the Holodomor, Maria Yevmenivna Radchenko, said, “They dug a pit like that, and buried there maybe twenty people.”
