The population of Shyroke village, Veselivskyi district, Zaporizhia region, suffered from the Holodomor genocide of 1932-1933. Lidiia Zahrudnia, born in 1928, noted that 3-5 people died in a day. They were put in a cart and sent beyond the village, where they were thrown into a deep pit.
