The population of Novovodiane village (Kamiansko-Dniprovskyi district, Zaporizka region) suffered from the Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933 in Ukraine. About 600 people died.
At the cemetery, over the mass grave of the Holodomor-genocide victims, the Memorial cross was installed. According to the memories of the local inhabitant Kaznachei B. Ya., on the yard of the neighboring house, where the whole family died, the pit was excavated, and the bodies of the dead were brought there. Taking this into account, it is possible to speak of the two known mass graves.
The local inhabitant Kalinichenho (Tkachenko) Yefrosyniia Stepanivna (born in 1924) told that during the Holodomor, there was nothing to eat. After the long-term starvation, the hands and legs were swallowing. Her mother was cooking the soup from the grass. They were forced to beg for food.
