The population of Kostiantynivka village (Melitopolskyi district, Zaporizka region) suffered from the Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933 in Ukraine. 101 persons killed by starvation were identified.
According to the eyewitness’ testimonies, at the village cemetery, there are several mass graves of local inhabitants killed by famine. In summer of 1992, at the cemetery, over one of the mass burials of the Holodomor victims, the first in the district Memorial sign (a wooden cross) was installed. Later, in 2006, it was decided to change the Memorial sign. Over the mass burial, the monument in the shape of the rectangular stele with the image of a woman and a cross carved inside.
