Holosiivskyi district

Victims: 460

The population of Pyrohiv village (Kyievo-Sviatoshynskyi district, Kyivska region) suffered from Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933 in Ukraine. At the cemetery, there is the place of mass burial of Holodomor victims.

Pyrohiv used to be a village (now it is the district in the southern part of Kyiv). It is located between Korchuvate, Kytaiv, and Vita-Lytovska village.

The inhabitants of the village recall that it was not possible to escape starvation even in Kyiv, because it was surrounded by the posts of NKVD, who turned the hungry peasants back. 460 persons are killed by starvation, but there is no memorial sign.

Beginning from 1957, the village belongs to the territory of Kyiv.
