The population of Velyki Sorochyntsi village (Myrhorodskyi district, Poltavska region) suffered from Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933 in Ukraine. 1200 people died there. The names of 63 victims are known nowadays.
On November 23, 2013, due to the initiative of the Cossacks of Sorochynska sotnia of Ukrainian Cossacks organization and active inhabitants of Velyki Sorochyntsi village, the memorial wooden cross was installed for commemoration of all the victims of Holodomor-genocide.
