The population of Verkhniachka an urban-type settlement (Khrystynivskyi district, Cherkaska region) suffered from Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933 in Ukraine. At the cemetery, there is the mass grave of Holodomor victims. The eyewitnesses recall, that the corpses of dead were brought together and taken away, and then buries in the common pit.
More than 100 people died in the village. 50 victims are identified.
