The population of Kodnia village (Zhytomyr district, Zhytomyr region) suffered from Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933. In Holodomor Kodnia village council was a part of Troyaniv district, Kyiv region.

According to the local eyewitnesses, it became known that during Holodomor of 1932-33 it was extremely difficult, there were great human sacrifices. The collective farms of Zakusyliv and Kodnia have been repeatedly listed on the so-called “black board”. In total, on the territory of the village council, the names of 238 people who died of hunger were identified. The list of the deceased is drawn up on the basis of the testimony of the Kodnia village council, based on eyewitnesses of M. S. Kravchuk, P.F. Ischuk.

In 2008, an oak cross was installed on the mass grave place located on a village cemetery.
