The population of Bratenytsia village (Velykopysarivskyi district, Sumska region) suffered from Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933. In 2007, due to the initiative of the head of the village council A. Ye. Yeremeyev, the memorial monument to Holodomor victims was installed at the cemetery.
