The population of the Vasylkivka urban-type settlement (Vasylkivskyi district of the Dnipropetrovska region) suffered from the Holodomor genocide of 1932-1933. According to eyewitnesses, there is a mass grave of the victims of the Holodomor in a local cemetery at Gubin hamlet.
