The population of Shabelnyky village (Chyhyrynskyi district, Cherkaska region, previously Kyivska region) suffered from Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933.As of December 16, 1932, the grain procurement plan for individual farmers was completed for 83,2%. As the result, in 1933, only 9,5% of fields for winter grains were sawn by individual farmers.

At the cemetery of the village, there was the place of mass burial of Holodomor victims, but today it is covered by the water of Dnieper river. In 1958, the Kremenchuk reservoir was created, which overflew Shabelnyky village, as well as other villages. In 1960, Shabelnyky village was withdrawn from the register of Tinchanska village council of Chyhyrynskyi district, Cherkaska region, in connection with the fact that Kremenchuk reservoir was filled by water.
