The population of the Pologi-Verguny village of in the Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky district of the Kyiv region suffered from the Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933. During the forced collectivization and the artificial Holodomor, 900 people died, 548 of them were named by name. It was here that the most people died in the district, the village lost 2/3 of its population.
