The population of Velyka Bilozerka village (Velykobilozerskyi district, Zaporizka region) suffered from the Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933 in Ukraine. Besides the fact that the local citizens were dying from starvation, the death rate was very high among the inhabitants of the orphanage located at Pivdenna street. According to the eyewitnesses’ testimonies, the bodies of the inhabitants of the village and children from the orphanage are buried in the common pit.
On November 22, 2007, at the cemetery, over the mass grave of the Holodomor-genocide victims, the stone Memorial monument 1,2 meters high was installed. In front of the stone, there is a granite sign.
