The population of Karapyshi village (Myronivskyi district, Kyivska region) suffered from the Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933.
At the beginning of the 30s’, there were collective farms named after Stalin, Petrovsky and one called “Tretii Vyrishalnyi”(“The Third Decisive”) in the village. In order to terrify the peasants and to make them enter Kolkhozes, several families were dekulakized. A group of the peasants was repressed, because they refused to enter the collective farm or even because they just were dissatisfied with the work organization and payment in the kolkhoz.
During the Holodomor years, according to the memories of 426 inhabitants to the village, who were the eyewitnesses of these events, about 2100 people died in the village. Only 133 persons are identified, 60 of them are children.
About 2100 persons died from starvation in the village. At the mass burial place, located at the village cemetery, the Memorial cross was installed in 2000.
