The population of the Novomoskovsk city (Novomoskovskyi district of the Dnipropetrovska region) suffered from the Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933. According to eyewitnesses at the Zhivotinske cemetery, there is a mass burial place of the victims of the Holodomor. There is a cross in memory of the victims of the Holodomor. There are many places of mass burial of the Holodomor victims on the outskirts of the city.
