The population of Myrivka village (Kaharlytskyi district, Kyivska region) suffered from the Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933. In the village, there are two mass burials of the 1932-1933 Holodomor-genocide victims. During the Holodomor, it happened sometimes that up to 40 persons died daily. In general, 344 persons died from the Holodomor (340 have been identified, 169 of them are children). During 1932-1933, 39 families died completely.
In 2007, in Myrivka, at the cemetery, near the mass burial of the Holodomor victims, the memorial sign (stone Cossack cross) was installed. The initiator and sponsor of the installation was Kyiv-born Puluhatarenko O. L., whose relatives died during the Holodomor in Myronivka village. His friends – Adam Sauer (Poland), Tim Bose (Germany), and Roberto Priviter (Italy) helped him. The author of the monument is Mykola Malyshko, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
